Making the Most of Your Travel Time
When you have made investments in overseas property, you
want to make the most of them. Utilising the time spent travelling
to your second home can help you to relax and unwind before
your trip has officially begun. The more you travel to and
from your investment property abroad, the more you will become
acquainted with the journey and will be able to make plans
for it to go more smoothly. Here we offer some tips to second
home owners looking to maximise their holiday time.
Saving Time at the Airport
A real time-saving tip is to check-in online before you get
to the airport. This allows you to board more quickly, and
as long as you only have hand luggage with you, you do not
have to pay for it.
Travel Light
Taking only hand luggage means that checking in at the airport
will be quicker. Always pack the minimum, as clothes and toiletries
can often be bought cheaply at your destination. Packing sample
toiletries like those found free with magazines will ensure
you keep well within the airlines’ liquid allowance
limits too.
The Airport Lounge
Check out your airline’s airport lounge facilities online
before travelling. Some airport lounges have good facilities
that you can make the most of. Some will offer free newspapers,
coffee and even beauty treatments that will help you unwind
before your holiday begins. This is a great time to get all
of your waxing, manicures and pedicures out of the way, allowing
your skin time to settle while you’re on the plane.
Most lounges will also offer excellent free business facilities.
If you remember to pack your laptop, this is a great time
to get all of your emailing and business tasks out of the
way before your trip starts.
On the Plane
Your time on the plane gives you a good opportunity to finish
that novel you’ve been meaning to get through, so pack
a good book. Another idea is to take letter paper, giving
you the chance to catch up on correspondence while you fly.
In the Car
Driving to your destination need not be wasted time. Pack
an audio book to listen to in the car or on your personal
stereo or mp3 player. This is also a useful time to brush
up on your language skills. Take a ‘learn French’
or ‘learn Spanish’ CD with you and you can pick
up language tips in time for your arrival.
